Bring the Heat With These 26 2024 Summer Makeup Looks!!!

Longer days, brighter sun, and rising temps can only mean one thing: Summer (and all the summer makeup looks that come with it) is coming in hot! While it goes without saying that we’re excited for all the BBQs and pool hangouts on the horizon, what we really can’t wait to dive into are the makeup looks associated with this time of year—like dewy skinno-makeup makeup, and vibrant eyeliners. These are just a few of the trends that make us feel summertime fine, but there are so many more creative ways to make a splash with your makeup. So if you’re looking for a refresh on your summer makeup style, keep scrolling for must-see inspo and tips from the experts.

About the Experts:

Andy Truong is a Salt Lake City-based celebrity makeup artist and founder of A.TRU Collection makeup.

Emily Gray is a celebrity makeup artist and spokesperson for CATRICE COSMETICS.

Nydia Figueroa is a celebrity makeup artist and spokesperson for BE A 10 COSMETICS.

Ash Walker is a beauty content creator and model.

1. Mermaidcore

Celeb makeup artist Emily Gray has been adoring the blues, greens, and shimmers of mermaidcore makeup looks. This true mermaidcore eye look comes together with a rich, shimmery teal shade in the outer V of your eyes and an iridescent blue in the inner corners that sweeps up toward the brow bone. Add a few jewels along your cheekbones or eye to channel Disney-princess glam, then finish with a natural lip color (like BEAUTY FOR REAL LIP REVIVAL Essential Hydration Serum Lipstick in Neutral) to let your eye look shine.

2. Playful Pastels

From the iridescent pastel eyeshadows to the lavender cat eye to the seamless pink cream blush, this summery look is all about keeping it light and lifted as you head into the warmer months. For the eyes, grab your favorite pastel shimmers (we love the shades in the CIATÉ LONDON I Am Woman 24 Shade Eyeshadow Palette V2), and buff them all over your eyelid and up to your brow. There’s no need for precision here, as shimmers are much more forgiving than mattes when it comes to blending. Then use a pastel-toned gel eyeliner to create your wing. For the cheeks, apply a light pink blush high on your cheekbones and brush it back toward your hairline. The end result is a fresh, fun contrast to the typical bronze looks you see in summer.

3. Airbrushed Base

At this point, glowing skin isn’t just a summer makeup trend—it’s practically synonymous with the season itself. But if super-radiant skin isn’t your vibe, try this airbrushed look that retains dimension and glow without overdoing the shine. The trick is to start with a luminizing primer like the DR. BRANDT SKINCARE Pores No More Luminizer Primer to give you a glowing base, then follow with a demi-matte foundation formula. Next, highlight with a cream product like the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Contour & Highlight Stick in Banana. Using a cream formula here is preferable to using a powder formula, since a powder may make you look a little too matte for this look. Follow with a liquid or cream blush à la LOVE+CRAFT+BEAUTY Liquid Cosmic Blush, then set everything with a light dusting of setting powder.

4. Sculpted & Sunkissed

Here’s a makeup look you can pair with virtually any plan you have this summer, whether that’s a day at the beach, an afternoon at the county fair, or a date night by the water. The key beauty products you’ll need are a bronzer and highlighter, but don’t forget to use a blush shade that complements the two, which will add to the overall cohesion of the look. One of our faves at the moment is the MISS FAME Crème and Powder Blush Duo, which gives you two gorgeous warm-toned shades to choose from.

5. Elevated Glow

Leave it to legendary makeup artist Lisa Eldridge to take our breaths away with understated glam. She makes dewy skin look effortless, bringing your attention to the high points of the cheeks with a soft sweep of highlighter. Try the look with a light wash of the GIVE THEM LALA BEAUTY Pressed Highlighter in Showstopper—but don’t skimp on the pre-skincare prep. You’ll definitely want to use hydrating products like moisturizer to make sure your skin can shine.

6. Festival Fab

Summer means festival season—and festival season means makeup that sparkles, shines, shifts, and totally steals the show. We’re in love with this multidimensional eyeshadow look by celeb makeup artist Daniel Martin, which features a bold, icy blue-green on the inner eyes and a vibrant purple on the outer eye area. He finished the look with an HONEST BEAUTY mascara, but you could also opt for the TOYFACTORY Hylash™ Hyaluronic Serum Mascara, which has a similarly shaped brush.

7. Tropical Winged Liner
Close-up image of a tropical winged eyeliner look on Ash Walker

If we could count how many times we hit “save” on inner corner eyeliner looks lately—well, we’d have a lot. This super fun eye makeup trend shows no sign of slowing down, and beauty content creator Ash Walker’s beautiful multicolored version (that reminds us of a tropical vacay) puts it at the top of our list of summer looks to try. To create it: Walker says to line your eyes with bright orange eyeliner from the middle of your lash line to the outer corner. Then, wing up and out. Use a flat angled eyeshadow brush to apply yellow shadow to your inner eye corner in a sideways “V,” and connect it to the orange on your upper lash line. Finish by adding light blue to your lower inner eye corner, about 1/4 of the way in. (Walker used yellows and blues from HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette in Sapphire).

Pro Tip: “I like to start with mascara first so I don’t have to worry about it getting on my eyeshadow when I apply, and it also helps me get a bolder, longer lash,” says Walker.

8. Pretty Pastel Shimmer
Close-up image of Ash Walker wearing a gold hoop earring and rocking a shimmery pastel eyeshadow look

Nothing reminds us of breezy summer days like a pastel eye look—and this gorgeous, shimmery version is the perfect touch of glam for day or night. Bonus: Shimmery pigments will catch the light for an instant glow (no filter needed). Here’s how to get the look: Walker says to use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend light brown shadow (she used SHAINA B MIAMI Eyeshadow in Wynwood) on your outer eye corner and into your eye crease. Then, use a mauve eyeliner to create a soft wing. Follow up with shimmery, light blue shadow on the inner corner of your eye, blended straight up toward your crease. Finish by tapping rose gold shadow (like CIATE LONDON Marbled Metals Eyeshadow in Entwine) all over your lid for dimension.

Pro Tip: “I used the THEBALM COSMETICS AutoBalm Pic Perfect Palette in shade Ocean Drive (medium brown shade) on the outer corner of my eye close to the lash line to create depth, and to make my lashes look thicker,” says Walker.

9. Playful, Pink Wings
Close-up image of Ash Walker rocking pink winged eyeliner look

We’ve tried every shade in the book when it comes to winged liner—purples, greens, and (of course) black—but we’ve got to admit it just doesn’t get more fun than pinky coral wings. Swapping your traditional liner for something that pops takes your summer liner looks to a new level. Here’s how to get the look: Walker says to use a coral eyeliner to line and wing out your eyes. Then, very lightly blend golden-brown shadow from the outer edge of your lash line up into your outer crease, and down onto your lower lash line. Take a bright yellow-green shadow (she used HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Palette in Sapphire) and use your finger to dab a small circle of it 1/4 of the way onto your lid.

10. Brights and Blues
Close-up image of a tropical blue, green, and yellow eyeshadow look on Ash Walker

Blue shadow is making a big comeback—but it’s nothing like those solid washes of color from the ’80s. Horizontal layers of neon yellow, green, and blue make for one of the most eye-catching shadow looks we’ve seen to date. To create it, Walker used a mix of brights from the HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Palette in Sapphire (but you can do it with just about any mix of brights!). Just blend light green from the inner corner of your eye, through your eye crease to the end of your brow. Add a sweep of light blue or teal below the light green. Take a deep, shimmery blue shade and blend it lightly from your upper lash line toward your eye crease. Use a liner brush to wing your eyes with the same shimmery blue shade.

11. Purple Haze
A close-up image of Ash Walker wearing a pink and shimmery purple eyeshadow look

A wash of bold color all over your lids is one of our favorite summer trends—and it’s perfect when you want maximum impact with minimal effort. You just need five minutes and a few of your fave shadows to make a bold statement. To create it, Walker suggests using a fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend medium brown and gold brown shadows (she used LAURA GELLER Urban Garden Eyeshadow Palette – Central Park in shades Turtle Pond and Bethesda Terrace) into your eye crease and up toward your brow, then along your lower lash line. Apply shimmery purple shadow (like CIATÉ LONDON Marbled Metals Eyeshadow in Wicked) all over from your lash line up toward your brow. Finish with a touch of rose gold on the inner corner of your eye.

12. Pink Pop

Makeup artist Andy Truong uses bright eyeliner to easily incorporate color into a look. The pro then tops it off with bright cheeks and a wash of pink or peach on the lips. Truong used the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Resist Color Ink Liquid Eyeliner in Pink Blaze.

13. Golden Sunset
A photo of a model with a dewy bronze makeup look

Truong keeps it classic with a touch of rose and all the dewy bronze. The pro uses a warm bronzer to warm up the cheeks, and eyes and then adds a touch of gloss to the lips for the perfect lightweight, glowy summer look. Truong’s favorite bronzer for this look is the CHARLOTTE TILBURY Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Cream Bronzer because of its radiance and easy-to-blend formula.

14. Summer Heat
A closeup photo of a model wearing peach blush and pink-peach colored lipstick look

Nothing screams summer like fun, bright colors—and when Truong feels indecisive between a pink or a peach, the pro opts for this bright coral shade. You can then keep it simple with the eyes and cheeks, using monochromatic tones that pair well with a fun bright lip. The lip used for this look was the DIOR Rouge Dior Lipstick in Dioramour.

15. Beach Party

A closeup photo of a model with a nude pink lip color and a beach party makeup look

Contoured eyes, bronzed, peach-kissed cheeks, and a nude pink lip is the go-to look for someone who’s not shy of full glam on a hot summer day. Truong’s look is perfect for a pool party or a day on the sand.

16. Pretty in Pink

A closeup photo of a model with pink cheeks and wearing a pink lip gloss

All the pink and all the glow! Truong recommends this look for anyone who loves their gloss and pink cheeks. You can keep the look monochromatic with pink eyes, lips, and cheeks for a girly girl’s staple! Truong’s favorite product for emphasis on the cheeks is the DIOR Backstage Rosy Glow Blush.

17. Metallic Magic

Makeup artist Nydia Figueroa loves sizzling gunmetals with pops of glitter and smoke for summer-night looks. The star of the show here is the silver metallic glitter in the center of the lid, paired with a soft smokey gray around the eyes. A beautiful shimmer for this look is the DANESSA MYRICKS Beauty Colorfix Metallics in Titanium. Figueroa advises to take a small amount of this shimmer on your ring finger and pat it on the center of your lid for a beautiful pop of color.

18. Bronzed Beauty

Glowy skin is always in, but Figueroa says this season is all about strategic placement of highlighter for a natural sun-kissed glow instead of a blinding highlight. A pro tip for applying highlighter that looks lit from within? Use an illuminator under your makeup first, then, using your fingers, apply the highlighter where the light naturally hits your face. A liquid illuminator she stands by for this technique is the LIMELIFE BY ALCONE Perfect Glow Drops.

19. Rosy Glow

Pink is a major win this summer for the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Figueroa uses the same shade of pink in different tones to give this look dimension. She uses blush on the eyes and cheeks, and loves the BE A 10 COSMETICS Be Cheeky Blush in Audacious to complete this type of look. She takes the blush and drapes it over the cheeks up to the temples and then takes the same shade and pops it over the eyelid and into the crease for a wash of color. She recommends pairing it with the BE A 10 COSMETICS Be Precious Lipstick Stain to complete the pretty-in-pink look!

Glazed skin was one of summer’s biggest trends last year, and Figueroa says this summer will be all about clear gloss and tinted lip oils. We love the PINKLIPPS COSMETICS Lip Gloss Duo in Aglow & Star for a glazed lip with a tint of color.

Figueroa says soft matte is the vibe this summer. She suggests skipping the face powder all over and only using it where needed for oil to let the shine pop through slightly. A great foundation for a soft matte look is the L’ORÉAL PARIS Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. This is a demi-matte formula that can last all day under the hot summer weather.

22. Powder Pop

After Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour took over the world in 2023, makeup artist Emily Gray has seen an emergence of metallic eyeshadow looks, especially in silver. She likes mapping out the eye look using a gray eyeliner, like the CATRICE 20H Ultra Precision Gel Eye Pencil in 20Grey. Smudge and blend the liner into the eye shape you desire, using a small flat brush before the pencil dries. Once you have that eye base down, go in with a silver eyeshadow. Gray loves the ISAMAYA Industrial Colour Pigments palette. The palette has several silver shades, so you can create a multidimensional metallic look. You can leave it as it, or add a winged liner for some added dimension.

It’s giving deep-sea magic. Think: saturated hues and a dimensional shift that catches the light and draws you in. To achieve this, grab a blue liner to plan out the shadow shape. Gray loves the VICTORIA BECKHAM BEAUTY Satin Kajal Liner in Surfside, a medium blue. After the shape is blended out, top it with a liquid eyeshadow like the HALF MAGIC BEAUTY Serving Siren. You can keep the eye look matte or add some glitter to the center of the lid. Gray is into the LHLA Spacepaste in Phantom because it’s an iridescent sky blue.

24. Lip Liner Pop

Perhaps we’ll never get over ’90s makeup trends, and Gray is completely OK with that. Some of her best-loved makeup trends are from that era. Distinctive lip liner, especially brown, is big on the carpet. To get this look, choose a dark brown liner (Gray loves the CATRICE Plumping Lip Liner in Go All Out). Line your lips in your desired shape (Gray overlines a bit), and take a small lip brush or your finger and blend the liner very slightly. Then take a contrasting shape of lipstick, like a light nude, and tap in the center of your lips. Make sure not to blend the two colors, as you’ll want the liner to really stand out.

25. Blushing Babe

One of Gray’s favorite trends this summer is the super blushy makeup look. The blush effect, when applied to the apples of the cheeks, under the eyes, and on the nose, adds such life to the face and offers a youthful appearance. To achieve this look, Gray mixes cream and powder blushes. She starts with cream blush and bronzer. She blends the cream out with her fingers, a beauty sponge, or a dense brush. After applying setting powder to the face (you can’t go wrong with the BAREMINERALS Mineral Veil® Setting Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 25 in Translucent), add some powder blush in a slightly different color to add some dimension to look.

We don’t know about you, but we’re still in our Barbie era. Super-feminine, Barbie-inspired makeup looks (think: pink blushes and shimmering, pink lips) have been giving us life ever since the movie came out last summer. We love how soft shades of pink are used to enhance your natural coloring, and we’re willing to bet that Barbie Pink will carry over in this summer’s vibrant color palette.

2024’s “5 Best” Lip-Plumping Products On The Market & A Beginner’s Guide to First Time Lip Fillers (injections)!!

2024‘s “5 Best” Lip-Plumping Products On The Market

Big juicy lips have been considered a part of fashion and an attractive feature for many decades, and it seems to be what everyone is aiming to have these days even more than ever. Unluckily, nature doesn’t work exactly how we want it to, leaving many people in the world constantly seeking to get their lips to their ideal size and shape. Well, the good news is, in this world of human-made wonders, nothing is impossible, and plumping up your lips is no exception either!

Luckily nowadays, there are numerous different ways available for you to get your ideal lips based on your preference and what your heart desires. Some of the techniques, such as surgery, are quite painful and might even leave you all bruised for the next couple of weeks until you can enjoy your new lips fully. Some others, such as injections, have irreversible side effects. The best way to avoid any of these hardships is through cosmetic products, to be exact, lip plumpers.

With big plump lips being the trend these days and the biggest fan of these trends, teens, having to face the obstacle of not getting the surgery, the cosmetic lip plumpers have been going places rapidly. Dozens of cosmetic manufacturers started launching their lip plumpers line, filling the market with all kinds of lip plumpers’ brands and editions. That’s why we reviewed many lip plumpers and bring it down to five of the most popular lip plumping products to provide a guide for you. Here’s the 5 best lip plumping gloss for a luscious pout!

The 8 Best Lip Plumpers of 2024, Tested by Real People

Overall Rating (4.8)

At the top of the list we have the NourishMax instant lip plumper, which received great feedback from consumers. The product is practically packaged with a stick to apply it rather than using a tube or even a dropper; one of the most problematic packagings in this industry. We like the fact that the plumping serum didn’t have any artificial pigment added to it as they mostly preferred wearing it under a coat of their lipstick of choice rather than wearing the serum solely. Also, some buyers reported the texture as smooth and not too watery, which would slide off the preferred area.

The first ingredient that got us excited was the hyaluronic sphere, also known as hyaluronic filling spheres. These spheres, made out of hygroscopic material, are dehydrated at first so that they’ll be able to absorb water and fill up water in the skin. The process of being filled up with water causes these spheres to be increased in volume, which can be used in softening deep wrinkles, giving volume to the skin and plumping it, and highly moisturizing the skin.

But NourishMax didn’t just stop at using hyaluronic spheres and moved one step further by adding vitamin E into the combination. This natural antioxidant is widely known for its hydrating and soothing properties that prevent any sort of water loss from the skin by protecting the cell membranes, acting as a barrier around the skin cells keeping your skin hydrated and healthy.

Buyers reported a noticeable increase in their lips’ volume as well as having hydrated and smooth glossy lips. Some noticed an encouraging collagen production due to the palmitoyl oligopeptide, giving the lips a fuller and firmer appearance.

Lastly, this lip plumper gloss is parable-free and sulfate-free, as well as having incredible customer service. Simply, the best way to get plump gloss lips without surgery.

#2 Dior

Dior Lip Maximizer
Overall Rating (4.5)

For second choice, we have another known brand among the others in this list. Buyers liked the consistent texture throughout the whole product, and the fact that it’s not lumpy.

The official website of this lip plumper provided users with a complete ingredients list. We were slightly disappointed when there was no list of active ingredients offered by the manufacturers, yet we found one ingredient quite interesting; capsicum frutescens fruit extract.

Capsicum frutescens fruit extract, also known as capsicum annuum fruit extract, contains a chemical substance called capsaicin, a chemical substance found in hot peppers. This substance increases the blood flow in the area it has been applied on, and there have been reports of additional firmness due to using this substance. Although this chemical substance can increase circulation giving your lips a plumping effect, it might cause irritation as well for people with sensitive skin.

In the end, some buyers did notice plumper and firmer lips, and they also really liked that the product came in various color options though they would have appreciated it if the brand didn’t use chemical pigment.

#3 Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath
Overall Rating (4.3)

Moving on, we have the Charlotte Tilbury collagen lip bath in third place on the list. Buyers liked the glossy, glittery look of it. They were delighted with the plumper’s consistency, and the glitter gave their lips more volume visually.

This plumper also succeeded in pleasing us by using soluble collagen or just collagen, an ingredient quite known for its incredible skincare effects. Soluble collagen is one of the natural proteins found in the skin and is the cause of the skin’s firmness. As we age, the levels of collagen decrease, and it starts to break down. This fantastic substance smoothens and softens the skin giving your skin a healthy, youthful look while binding water to your skin which highly hydrates your skin in return. Also, soluble collagen can act as a filler and soften your wrinkles and fine lines or adding volume, as well as making the area it’s been applied to become firmer.

The product is reasonably priced, which ultimately pleased consumers, even though they didn’t like the fact that the pigments were chemical.

#4 PCA Skin

PCA Skin Lip Booster
Overall Rating (4.1)

Our fourth product is the PCA skin hyaluronic acid lip booster. First, buyers fell in love with the silky texture this lip plumper had, and some reported having softer and smoother lips after applying some of this plumper to their lips.

This lip plumper used almost the same active ingredients as our first choice with a little diversion. This lip plumper contains identical hyaluronic filling spheres and Tocopherol (Vitamin E), but the peptides in this formula differ, which causes a great change. The said peptides are Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 accompanied by Portulaca Pilosa Extract. Portulaca Pilosa Extract contains a modified matrikine-mimetic peptide that synthesizes hyaluronic acid resulting in plumper lips and, when accompanied by Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, which increases natural collagen and GAC production, causing an increase in lips’ volume, can form an incredible plumping combination for the lips.

#5 Glossier

Glossier Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream
Overall Rating (4.0)

For our last choice, we have the Glossier bubblewrap eye+lip plumping cream in fifth place. The packaging of this lip plumper consisted of a pump that was not favored by some of our buyers, claiming the pump didn’t work great all the time.

Containing hyaluronic acid made a really positive impression on our experts, and they loved its combination with squalane, avocado oil, and blueberry extract. This cream wasn’t exactly aimed to plump lips as it’s used for both the eyes and the lips, but three of its key ingredients being hyaluronic acid, squalane, and avocado oil, increases the skin’s ability to hold water and absorbs more water into the skin’s layers making it plumper and softer.

After all, buyers liked the plumping feeling, even though it wasn’t as much as they liked to. Overall, the ingredients were pretty impressive.

A Beginner’s Guide to First Time Lip Fillers (injections)

Are you considering enhancing your lips for a fuller, more youthful appearance? Lip fillers have become increasingly popular for those seeking a natural-looking boost in lip volume without the need for invasive surgery. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about first time lip fillers, from understanding the different types available, to ensuring a successful treatment and maintaining your new, luscious lips.

Key Takeaways

  • Understand lip fillers and their types before treatment
  • Choose a credentialed provider and disclose any medications or supplements taken beforehand
  • Maintain desired results with follow up treatments every 6-12 months

Understanding Lip Fillers

Lip fillers, a type of dermal filler or soft tissue fillers, have become the go-to cosmetic treatment for those looking to achieve fuller, plumper lips. These injectables are comprised of synthetic hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in our bodies that adds volume and hydration to the skin. Various brands such as Juvederm, and Restylane offer different experiences, thus understanding their differences and what to anticipate during your initial lip filler treatment is beneficial.

Being mindful of the lip filler swelling stages after lip filler application, which can persist for up to two weeks, is also key.

What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers, also known as lip injections, are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to increase lip volume and provide a more youthful appearance, ultimately boosting self-esteem. In fact, the FDA has approved lip fillers for individuals aged 21 and older, making it a popular choice for those looking to delay surgical lip augmentation.

The lip filler injection process involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the lips, achieving a natural enhancement that many first-timers find appealing.

Types of lip fillers

Lip fillers come in various forms, including both temporary and permanent options. However, hyaluronic acid-based fillers are the most prevalent choice for enhancing both the upper and lower lip.

Topical numbing creams are often used to minimize discomfort during the injection process, ensuring a more comfortable experience for the patient. Some FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based fillers for lip augmentation include Juvéderm® Volbella XC, Juvéderm® Ultra XC, Revanesse Versa and Restylane® Kysse.

Preparing for Your First Lip Filler Treatment

Before embarking on your lip filler journey, conduct thorough research and choose a credentialed provider for the procedure. This can help ensure a safe and successful treatment with minimal complications.

Before your appointment, make sure to reveal any medications and supplements you’re taking, since some might influence the procedure and heighten the chance of side effects, like lip swelling.

Choosing the right provider

Selecting the right provider for your lip filler treatment is crucial for a successful outcome. It’s recommended to consult with a licensed professional, the intials CANS behind their name will indicate a nurse or nurse practitioner is board certified in aesthetics. Although all procedures come with risks, using an untrained professionals can increase the chance of severe damage, such as injecting into a blood vessel or damaging a nerve.

By doing thorough research and finding a qualified provider with a track record of success, you can set realistic expectations and ensure a safe and effective lip filler treatment. Your provider should be happy to show you their portfolio with many before and afters photos of lip filler injections.

Disclosing medications and supplements

Before your lip filler treatment, you must let your healthcare provider know about any blood thinning medications, vitamins, or supplements you’re currently taking. Certain medications and supplements can thin the blood or increase the risk of bruising, affecting the healing process and the final results of the treatment. Other supplements or medications that may thin the blood include fish oil, aspirin, and warfarin.

Be sure to abstain from alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment to minimize the risk of side effects.

The Lip Filler Procedure

The lip filler procedure is a quick and relatively simple process, typically taking between 20 to 60 minutes. During the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied to the lips, followed by the careful injection of the filler into specific areas of the lips to enhance their volume and shape. For those considering getting lip filler, it’s important to consult with a qualified professional to ensure the best results.

Adhering to your provider’s aftercare instructions is vital for a smooth recovery and best possible results. Lip filler swelling stages can be discussed with your provider and are very temporary. In general, swelling with dermal fillers resolves within a few days to weeks. If you are concerned about lip swelling and have events coming up, plan to receive your dermal filler treatment two weeks prior.

Anesthetic application

Ensuring patient comfort during the lip filler procedure is a top priority for providers. To achieve this, a topical anesthetic, such as a compounded cream containing benzocaine lidocaine and tetracaine is typically applied to the lips before the injection process.

This numbing effect, provided by the topical numbing cream, helps minimize any discomfort during the treatment and allows the patient to relax as the filler is skillfully injected.

At DHH Med Spa in Scottsdale, we offer additional options for comfort including dental blocks, pronox laughing gas, distraction methods, ice and tylenol.

Injection process

The actual injection process for lip fillers is quick and straightforward. The provider will carefully inject the filler, usually hyaluronic acid, into specific areas of the lips, taking only a few moments per site. Lip fillers typically involve the use of hyaluronic acid as the primary ingredient.

For safety reasons, puncturing the lips from the vermillion border and avoiding injections into specific areas is necessary. The most common method of injection is using regular needles versus cannula, ensuring precise and controlled placement of the filler.

Post-Treatment Care and Recovery

Following your lip filler treatment, appropriate post-treatment care and recovery are key to attaining optimal results. This includes managing any swelling and bruising that may occur and scheduling follow-up appointments with your provider to assess the results and discuss any necessary adjustments.

Managing swelling and bruising

Swelling and bruising are common side effects of lip fillers, but with proper care, they can be managed effectively. Applying an ice pack and arnica can help reduce lip filler swelling and bruising, which typically last a few days after the treatment. At DHH Med Spa we also offer the Alastin post injection serum with chromafade which cuts bruising time in half!

Adherence to your provider’s aftercare recommendations can curtail discomfort and guarantee a seamless healing process. Ingestion of any blood thinning products for 24 hours post injection of dermal fillers can still mean bruising worse, also avoid alcohol within this time frame.

Avoid strenuous exercise, steam rooms or anything that heats up the body for 24 hours.

We also recommend the Mizzi lip luxe products to help maintain your lip filler results. These products were specially formulated to hydrate the lips post injecting fillers. We offer this in our Scottsdale office so be sure to ask!

Follow-up appointment

Scheduling a follow-up appointment with your provider is not mandatory, but may be helpful in the lip filler process. This appointment allows your provider to assess the results of the treatment and discuss any adjustments that may be needed such as adding more filler.

Attending these appointments can help to confirm your satisfaction with the final result and address any concerns or that may have surfaced post-treatment. Sometimes a lip flip can be added at the appointment with 2-8 units of Botox just to enhance the results.

Potential Risks and Side Effects

Although lip fillers are typically deemed safe and effective, awareness of potential risks and side effects that may arise is paramount. Common side effects include swelling, bruising, and tenderness, but more severe complications can arise, especially if the procedure is not performed by a qualified professional.

Be sure to communicate with your provider if you experience any persistent or worsening side effects after your treatment such as pain or discoloration.

Common side effects

Mild bruising, swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injection site are common side effects of lip filler treatments. In some cases, lip filler treatments can also reactivate cold sores or the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1).

If you experience any of these side effects and they persist or worsen, it’s important to consult with your provider for guidance and appropriate treatment.

Achieving Natural-Looking Results

A primary objective of lip filler treatments is to attain a natural-looking enhancement. Clear communication with your provider and a gradual approach to treatment are vital to securing the best possible outcome.

This will help you achieve the desired lip volume and appearance while minimizing the risk of complications.

Communication with provider

Discussing your aesthetic goals with your provider is crucial for ensuring realistic expectations and avoiding overfilling. Through effective communication, your provider can customize the treatment to fulfill your expectations and ensure your satisfaction with the end result.

Be sure to express any concerns, provide a detailed medical history, and clarify your expectations during your consultation.

Gradual approach

Opting for a gradual approach to lip filler treatments offers several benefits. It allows for a more natural-looking and balanced result, as well as the ability to make adjustments during subsequent sessions.

Starting with a small amount of filler and adjusting as needed in follow-up appointments can help minimize the risk of complications and provide better control over the final result.

At DHH Med Spa in Scottsdale we offer 1/2 syringes of select products or can recommend supporting areas to use the remaining product.

Lip Filler Longevity and Maintenance

Given the temporary nature of lip filler results, planning for touch-up treatments to uphold your desired lip volume and appearance is essential. The duration of lip filler results varies depending on the brand and individual factors, typically lasting between 6-12 months.

By scheduling regular touch-up treatments, you can keep your upper lip and the rest of your lips looking full and youthful.

Duration of results

The longevity of lip filler results can vary depending on the brand and individual factors, such as age, lifestyle, and skin type. On average, lip filler results last between 6-12 months, making it important to plan for touch-up treatments to maintain the desired appearance.

Touch-up treatments can help to extend the longevity of the results, and can be done to extend the results.

Touch-up treatments

Don’t Sweat It!

Don’t sweat it.

There’s something very trustworthy about a person who leaves a product review. They’ve tried it, contemplated the results and gone to the effort of typing out a comprehensive (more or less) summary of their experience.

Granted, sometimes it’s because the reviewer is petty and needs to take their anger out on the internet (the time my Amazon garlic press was simply not pressing) – but for the most part, reviews are left for the greater good of the online shopping community.

Regardless, I will never invest in a beauty or skincare product without a thorough scroll through the comment section. It saves me a lot of impulse purchase regrets and most of the time, the people know what they’re talking about. How else am I supposed to distinguish a ‘shimmery finish’ from a ‘greasy smear’?

And speaking of grease, it’s no secret that summer in Australia makes even the tiniest of pores perspire. Sweat-proof makeup is an essential – particualrly for those with oily or combination skin. Tired of my makeup melting off, I decided to trawl the internet to find some of the best no-sweat makeup products. Here are the beauty crowds top-rated picks.

Mac Cosmetics Stack Waterproof Mascara

Star rating: 4.3 of 287 reviews on Mecca

Mac made waves back in March of 2022 with the release of its viral Stack Mascara. Since then, the product has garnered a cult following and become a lash staple for beauty junkies both on and offline. Its waterproof version is still continuously buildable and clump-resistant, but with the benefits of 24-hour smudge resistance. As one reviewer writes, “I am highly active and sweat a lot. This is the only waterproof mascara that looks decent and lasts a long time.”

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil

Star rating: 4.7 of 67 reviews on Mecca

As a girl who has succumbed to tweezing her brow ends, nothing is more valuable than a brow pencil that really stays. The Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting pencil uses a waxy tip to secure pigment to both hair and skin. The powder-to-wax formula mimics the look of hair, creating clean-yet-soft lines. “I’ve used this for four years and it’s my go-to brow product,” one reviewer writes. “[You] can get nice defined lines and the brush blends it into the hairs well. Stays all day, [for] eight-plus hours. Love it!”

Benefit Cosmetics Benetint Cheek and Lip Tint

Star rating: 4.2 out of 2597 reviews on Sephora

A longtime makeup favourite for a reason, Benefits Benetint is the sweatproof alternative to a liquid blush (or lipstick) on those ultra-hot days. It’s a multi-use, highly buildable pigment designed to be used anywhere on the face for a flush of sunkissed – not sunburnt – colour. “I have always had a problem with my blush not lasting all day, but with this I have never had that problem,” one review reads. “It’s the perfect tint for both your cheeks and lips and is such a good product for a natural makeup look.”

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Makeup Setting Spray

Star rating: 4.4 out of 3060 reviews on Sephora

No sweat-proof beauty roundup would be complete without the final step – a heavy-duty setting spray. This alcohol-free version from Milk locks in makeup for up to 12 hours while maintaining a natural, breathable glow. On long days, use it between steps for extra staying power. As one reviewer writes, “[It] looked so fresh and dewy without being greasy. It really does provide hydration and longevity, unlike any setting spray I’ve tried before.”

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Star rating: 4.3 out of 2965 reviews on Mecca

It’s not always easy to find buildable, blurring coverage that can last through soaring temperatures. With over 30 shades available, Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation smooths over pores and imperfections with a matte – but never drying – finish. “This is my favourite foundation,” one reviewer writes. “It doesn’t feel heavy and lasts during the day or night. It has a natural finish and doesn’t make my skin oily.”

Urban Decay was among the first to launch a setting spray, and not surprisingly, the brand continues to reign supreme in this makeup category. After spritzing on the fan-favorite All Nighter Spray, it absorbed quickly into the skin and we loved the refreshingly lightweight feel.

Suitable for all skin types, the non-irritating formula plays well over other products, delivering a natural-looking glow that makes your makeup pop. What’s more, it keeps your glam looking fresh for up to 16 hours.

Thanks to Urban Decay’s patented Temperature Control Technology, this award-winning product actually lowers the temperature of your creams, liquids, and powders to ensure long-lasting, transfer-resistant wear. Setting spray isn’t necessarily a luxury beauty product, even if it makes you feel fancy. Case in point: this budget-friendly, highly effective formula from e.l.f. that feels super lightweight on the skin. The micro-fine mist leaves a healthy-looking dewy finish in its wake and we appreciated that it didn’t feel wet or look greasy.

This setting spray isn’t billed as waterproof, but it promises to lock in your makeup for up to 16 hours. And while it contains synthetic fragrance, which can be irritating for sensitive skin,1 we didn’t find the scent to be overwhelming.

  • Dries immediately
  • Controls shine and oil

What We Don’t Like

  • Slightly sticky
  • Not waterproof

Finish: Matte | Amount: 2 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

NYX’s Matte Finish Setting Spray was a hit both in The Lab and when we tested it at home. While it felt slightly sticky at first, we found that it dried immediately and didn’t smear makeup underneath.

As the name suggests, this best-seller provides a mattifying effect while controlling shine and oil production. One thing to note is that it’s not waterproof. During our splash test, splashing water on the face resulted in minor smudging, though we didn’t need to redo our makeup.

Best for Sensitive Skin

What We Like

  • Light, comfortable feel
  • Gentle formula
  • Doesn’t smudge makeup
  • Helps reduce redness and irritation

What We Don’t Like

  • Smells like chlorine

Finish: Natural | Amount: 1–4 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

Reactive skin? Go with Tower 28’s cult-loved SOS Spray. Not only does it feel lightweight and virtually unnoticeable on the skin, but it also helps to tame redness and irritation and can be used alone as a calming skincare product.

Though this product doesn’t claim to be waterproof, it safeguarded one of our tester’s makeup during the splash test and didn’t smudge when she blotted with a towel. Just a heads-up: It smells like chlorine, but if you don’t mind that, your sensitive complexion will thank you.

Best for Dry Skin

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dewy Set Setting Spray

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dewy Set Setting Spray

What We Like

  • Multipurpose formula
  • Cool and refreshing
  • Nice scent

What We Don’t Like

  • Mist comes out too quickly

Finish: Dewy/radiant | Amount: 0.4–3.4 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

It can be hard to avoid a dry finish when you have dry skin, but this multipurpose mist from Anastasia Beverly Hills offers a simple solution. Dewy Set can be used as a first step to prep your skin, then spritzed on again to set your makeup and refresh it throughout the day.

We should note that the nozzle works almost too well in that it’s easy to overdo it with too much product. It leaves the skin feeling pretty wet after just a few spritzes, but it dried quickly and didn’t disrupt our makeup. It feels cooling on the skin, has a nice coconutty-vanilla scent, and leaves a radiant, glowy finish behind.

Best Matte Finish

One/Size by Patrick Starr On ‘Till Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray

PHOTO: Sephora

What We Like

  • Blurs imperfections
  • Extends makeup wear
  • Waterproof

What We Don’t Like

  • Somewhat perfumey
  • Makes skin feel slightly tight

Finish: Matte | Amount: 1–3.4 ounces | Waterproof: Yes | Cruelty-Free: Yes

If you prefer a matte finish, we recommend One/Size On ‘Til Dawn. The lightweight formula sets makeup instantly, and though it created a minor tightening sensation on the skin, it wasn’t uncomfortable. Beyoncé’s makeup artist even recently shared that this is the setting spray she used on the Renaissance World tour—and it lasted through a rain storm in Washington D.C.

Once dry, it leaves the complexion looking smooth and crease-free with a soft-focus blurred effect that kept our makeup intact all day—even through splashes of water. And while this setting spray is mattifying, it didn’t look flat or feel dry on the skin. It smells kind of perfume-y, which some people don’t mind, but the added fragrance could be irritating.

Best Dewy

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

PHOTO: Sephora

What We Like

  • Light and refreshing
  • Glowy, radiant finish
  • Nice scent

What We Don’t Like

  • Mister is almost too fine

Finish: Dewy/luminous | Amount: 0.4–1.4 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

Going for a dewy dumpling look? Tatcha is your best bet. The brand’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist has a light, refreshing feel, and a nice subtle scent. Thanks to a hydrating blend of red algae, hyaluronic acid, and squalane, a few spritzes are all you need to plump up your skin2 and create a healthy glow.2

We found that it felt totally weightless on the skin and worked to set makeup in place while creating a luminous finish. You don’t have to worry about the mist being too aggressive or soaking your face, in fact, we wish it was a bit more powerful as it takes many sprays to evenly coat the face. While Tatcha doesn’t describe this product as waterproof, it definitely passed our splash test. We just wish the bottle were a little bigger, considering the steep price point.

Best Radiant

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Set + Refresh Spray

What We Like

  • Cool and hydrating
  • Dries quickly
  • Doesn’t feel wet or sticky

What We Don’t Like

  • Not waterproof

Finish: Radiant | Amount: 1.7–3.4 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

Milk’s Hydro Grip Spray really impressed us. It felt cool on the face and dried quickly into a radiant finish. While the lightweight formula is very hydrating, it didn’t feel overly wet or sticky.

Once dry, this skin-friendly setting spray promises to keep your makeup in place for up to 12 hours. A splash of water did result in some slight smudging, but almost nothing transferred when we patted our skin with a towel.

Best Waterproof

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Setting Spray

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: Super Setter Pore-Minimizing Setting Spray

PHOTO: Sephora

What We Like

  • Light and cooling
  • Doesn’t run or smear
  • Extends makeup wear

What We Don’t Like

  • Doesn’t blur very well

Finish: Natural | Amount: 1–4 ounces | Waterproof: Yes | Cruelty-Free: No

If you need a waterproof formula, The POREfessional has your name on it. This micro-fine mist has a virtually weightless, slightly cooling feel. It applies evenly and works beautifully to prevent makeup from smearing.

While this product didn’t really deliver on its pore-blurring claims, it definitely seems to lock in the products underneath. Calling it a “little rain jacket for [her] makeup,” one tester said that everything stayed intact after giving her face a good splash. With that said, you can count on The POREfessional to make good on its promise of 16-hour wear.

Best for All Skin Types

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Primer and Setting Spray

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Primer and Setting Spray

PHOTO: Amazon

What We Like

  • Multipurpose formula
  • Leaves skin smooth

What We Don’t Like

  • Finicky nozzle
  • Slightly sticky

Finish: Natural | Amount: 3.4 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: No

MAC’s Prep + Prime Spray has been a beauty-bag staple for several years—and for good reason. The nozzle was a little finicky at first, but once we got it working, it helped to reduce a powdery finish and set the makeup in place. It’s not dewy or mattifying, it just has a natural finish, which makes it great for all skin types.

This multipurpose mist can also be used to prep and hydrate your skin and refresh your face throughout the day. Though it had a slightly sticky feel, it smoothed the skin and left it looking refreshed. And while it’s not billed as waterproof, it seemed to offer some moisture resistance and promises to help your makeup last for 12 hours.

Best Multi-Use

Rare Beauty Prime & Set Mist

What We Like

  • Four-in-one formula
  • Refreshing and hydrating
  • Waterproof and transfer-resistant

What We Don’t Like

  • Nothing

Finish: Radiant | Amount: 2.9 ounces | Waterproof: Yes | Cruelty-Free: Yes

Rare Beauty’s take on setting spray is this multipurpose mist that not only sets your makeup but also hydrates, primes, and refreshes your skin. After trying it first-hand, we can confirm that it lives up to its claims as a four-in-one formula.

One tester said that it melted her foundation into her face and left her with a “natural, glowy” complexion and smaller-looking pores. This all-star spray is also waterproof and transfer-resistant. Thanks to a blend of niacinamide (vitamin B3)3 and white water lily,4 it even helps soothe stressed skin.

Best Value

Beauty Bakerie Spray Your Grace Setting Spray

Beauty Bakerie Spray Your Grace Baking Spray

What We Like

  • Reasonably priced
  • Dries quickly
  • Light and non-sticky

What We Don’t Like

  • Not ideal for those with sensitive skin

Finish: Natural | Amount: 3.4 ounces | Waterproof: Yes | Cruelty-Free: Yes

This reasonably priced setting spray from Beauty Bakerie comes in a generously sized can. The aerosol format delivers a continuous mist, making it easy to coat your face evenly.

We love that it dries quickly and doesn’t have a heavy or sticky feel. Makeup didn’t smudge, smear, or transfer, even when we splashed our faces with water while testing this one. While the formula contains synthetic fragrance which we don’t prefer, especially for those with sensitive skin, we found the scent to be pleasant and non-irritating.

Best Mister

Pixi Beauty Makeup Fixing Mist

What We Like

  • Affordable
  • Dries quickly
  • Hydrating and refreshing
  • Mister applies spray evenly

What We Don’t Like

  • Not waterproof
  • Contains fragrance

Finish: Natural/dewy | Amount: 2.7 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

This setting spray from Pixi is super popular—and not just because the name rolls off the tongue. While the affordable formula isn’t waterproof, it hydrates and soothes the skin, sets your makeup, and leaves your face feeling refreshed.

It dried quickly, leaving us with smooth makeup and soft-looking skin. And we’d be remiss not to talk about the mister—it works to evenly coat the face with just the right amount of product. Some setting sprays come out too aggressively, which can leave big droplets on your skin and ultimately ruin your makeup. We love that this one comes out evenly and we never have to worry about it messing up our makeup.

Best Oil-Absorbing

Flower Beauty Flower Beauty Jet Set Invisible Powder Spray

FLOWER Beauty Jet Set Invisible Powder Spray

What We Like

  • Invisible
  • Mattifying
  • Great for oily skin

What We Don’t Like

  • Not great for dry skin

Finish: Matte | Amount: 1.5 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

This popular spray offers an invisible mattifying effect, controlling shine without leaving a powdery white residue behind. It’s a great pick for those with oily skin or anyone who lives in a really humid climate because it works to set makeup and effectively absorb oil and mattify shine. If you’re dry, this will only enhance that.

Best Scented

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater

PHOTO: Amazon

What We Like

  • Refreshing rose scent
  • Affordable
  • Hydrating

What We Don’t Like

  • Not waterproof
  • Not ideal for those with sensitive skin

Finish: Dewy | Amount: 5 ounces | Waterproof: No | Cruelty-Free: Yes

This popular mist helps revive dehydrated skin but the natural rose scent is so nice you might be tempted to spritz it all day long, with or without makeup. We love the finish, which offers a dewy glow, and the floral infusion feels good on the skin. While it’s not ideal for extending the wear of makeup, it does a great job of reducing a powdery finish and making the skin look and feel more hydrated.

What to Look for in a Setting Spray

  • Claims: Not all setting sprays do the same thing. When you’re shopping for one, keep in mind what you want to get out of using a setting spray and look for products that align. For example, if you have oily skin and you’re hoping to reduce shine and extend the wear of your makeup, choose one with a matte finish that promises to lock in makeup for 12+ hours.
  • Finish: Determine the finish you want to achieve, as well as your skin type. If you tend to get oily, a mattifying setting spray could help to counteract any shininess. If you have dry skin or you want to achieve a glow, one with a luminous finish is best for you.

  • How do I apply setting spray?

After you’ve finished applying your makeup, give the bottle a generous shake, then hold it about six to eight inches from your face. With your eyes closed, spray on a light veil in a zig-zag motion. Allow it to dry for at least a minute.

  • When should I apply setting spray?

You can apply setting spray on top of foundation, on top of a full face of makeup, or after each step (misting the face after eyeshadow, lipstick, and other product layers).

  • Do you really need to use setting spray?

While setting spray isn’t a necessity, it will amp up your makeup game and help your products last. Some setting sprays even add to your makeup, creating a dewy or matte finish and blurring imperfections that your foundation might have missed.

Sexual Chemistry and 21 key signs of sexual tension and how to deal with them, according to experts!

What Does Sexual Tension Feel Like for a Woman? by oombler - Issuu

How Sexual Chemistry Develops and What It Feels Like
What it really means to feel *that* spark

Sexual chemistry is when you have an immediate physical attraction to someone. Signs of sexual chemistry include sweaty palms, shortness of breath, and feeling a quick, intense draw to the other person. Sexual chemistry is usually obvious at the beginning of a relationship and is an important component of many relationships.1

The danger is you might interpret the sexual chemistry alone as reflecting a deeper connection. Without more knowledge about this very attractive person, you just don’t know enough about who they are.

Sometimes the chemistry does reflect a deeper connection. But how can you distinguish between what is sexual chemistry and what hints at more of a possible deep, intimate bond?

This article will delve into the benefits and drawbacks of sexual chemistry, the chemicals our brain produces during our feelings of lust and love, information on attachment styles, what happens when chemistry diminishes, as well as more about intimacy and loving bonds.

How Sexual Chemistry Develops
What makes people have sexual chemistry? The answer lies in chemicals released during lust and attraction.

Lust is a desire for sexual gratification. The brain’s hypothalamus influences the production of the hormones testosterone and estrogen. This drives our feelings of sexual desire.

When we are attracted to someone, our brains release high levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. Dopamine and norepinephrine “make us giddy, energetic, and euphoric,”2 sometimes resulting in loss of appetite and the inability to sleep.

We all know of those friends or family members who after meeting someone special say they can’t eat, sleep or concentrate. They’re head over heels. They’re so excited about the new relationship they claim they’re already in love. Often, this is the physical chemistry talking.

The magnetism of intense sexual chemistry can result in good, short-term relationships. As long as both parties recognize their time together for what it truly is, relationships that are based on physical enjoyment can work out well.

Benefits of Sexual Chemistry
When sexual chemistry leads to sex, there are many benefits. On the physical side, besides sex being a form of exercise which improves your health, your immune function increases, you gain positive cardiac effects and even the perception of headache pain in migraine decreases.

The psychological benefits of having sex after sexual chemistry are also multifold. A few of the proven benefits include relief from stress,3 higher rate of happiness and improved sleep quality.

Therefore, when sexual attraction leads to a sexual relationship, there are many positives that come from it.

What Is Sexual Tension?
Dangers of Sexual Chemistry
Unfortunately, when some couples are so drawn to each other in a passionate, physical way, one might want a longer lasting relationship and the other is satisfied with keeping it only physical.

At other times, one partner discovers the other person is not living a healthy lifestyle or exhibits a lot of damaging behaviors. Couples may discover they bring out the worst in each other.

When two people overlook the rest of their relationship dynamics for the sake of a strong physical and sexually-focused tie, it does not bode well. Infidelity, alcoholism, drug usage, and other serious problems should never be overlooked because of great sex.

When two people are obsessed with the other and have off-the-chart sexual chemistry, they might struggle to leave each other but know they can’t stay together either. This type of relationship can quickly become toxic.

Causes of Sexual Chemistry
Dr. Amy E. Keller, PsyD, a marriage and family therapist suggests that falling for someone and having great sexual chemistry can sometimes be connected to past attachments. Causes of sexual chemistry can include “unconscious and unresolved family dynamics,” she suggests.

It is possible to be strongly drawn to people who remind you of your past, including unconscious and unresolved family dynamics. For example, you might be drawn to a partner who resembles a primary parental figure who did not meet the needs you hoped would be met. As a result, you may find yourself unconsciously trying to heal through your relationship with your partner.

It is important to navigate this with increased awareness, courageous communication, great care, and intention. It is possible to heal from the trauma that happened in a past relationship through your current relationship, but it is also possible to repeat past trauma as well.

Sexual chemistry can’t protect you from someone’s problems that stem from childhood. Ideally, as we mature, the ways we interact and behave in relationships reflect what’s called a secure attachment style. That means we are socially comfortable, trust others, have good self-esteem, and share our feelings with friends and family.

But Dr. Amy (as she is called) cautions us that “if a couple falls down a rabbit hole together to the point of ignoring friends and family while in their love bubble, it usually doesn’t end well.” She adds, “That is, most people don’t come to the table with secure attachments nor are they uber ready right away for a healthy, mature relationship.”

For people who show evidence of a fearful-avoidant attachment style, for example, though they crave love and affection, they don’t trust others and are reluctant to have close relationships. Often this relates to childhood trauma, these individuals struggle with trying to maintain healthy relationships.

According to what Dr. Amy sees in her practice, “Many people have a combination of avoidance or anxious attachment styles. If they still want to explore a relationship with that person, all they need to do is slow it down and pace it out.”

In addition to slowing things down and going at a more organic, less intense pace, the good news is that those having insecure attachment styles can develop a more secure attachment style under the care of and with proper guidance from a mental health professional.

A secure attachment style is possible to develop, but this takes time, care, intention, effort, and the healing of relationship trauma in relationships with yourself and others.

Attachment styles can evolve over time and people with all attachment styles can be in relationships with people who have different attachment styles. This can be healing with awareness, communication, intention, and the openness, willingness, and commitment to heal, change, do things differently, and grow.
When Sexual Chemistry Diminishes
Sexual chemistry can fuel a relationship and eventually lead to intimacy. The physical attraction can help people foster a deep emotional connection later on.

What happens when sexual chemistry diminishes? When the glow of infatuation and attraction dims, and couples see the other’s quirks and faults in the bright light of awareness, that’s when they are tested.

At that point, they can decide if the relationship’s foundation was purely physical and will take them no further. Or do they want to continue down the path of getting to know the other better and perhaps eventually remain together?

Surely, the stressors of everyday life and lack of time may put a dent in the sex life of those who have dated or been together awhile. Work challenges, financial pressures, and the birth of children might negatively impact the carefree sex life that couples had in the past.

Yet, once couples weather the roadblocks that come up as a result of getting to know one another and living a life together, they will hopefully have already developed intimacy, respect, and feelings of love for the other. They can continue to establish a fulfilling relationship while not giving up their sexual selves.

Sexual chemistry remains an important component that keeps a relationship vital and thriving.

The Role of Intimacy in Sexual Chemistry
Intimacy can be defined as a physical, mental, and emotional closeness. Results from a study showed that feelings of intimacy boosted sexual desire between romantic partners. These partners had more sex as a result.4

So, it’s clear that feelings of intimacy will enhance any relationship. People can create more feelings of emotional intimacy to improve their relationships and marriages by increasing time together as a couple, turning off electronics, being fully present with one another, and communicating with openness, vulnerability, and honesty.

Fear of Intimacy: Signs, Causes, and Coping Strategies
Sexual Chemistry Can Lead to Loving Relationships
As discussed, sexual chemistry might lead to a mature, loving relationship. If it does, you can be sure that mature, intimate, and loving relationships reflect two people who have bonded.

Oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus and is the neurotransmitter that helps us feel empathy and attachment, and truly bond3 with one another. Oxytocin has been nicknamed the cuddle hormone and is sometimes referred to as the love hormone. During parent-infant bonding, while long-time friends speak and when partners embrace lovingly, oxytocin plays a major and undeniable role in creating and maintaining intimate, loving relationships.

Our fast and free love quiz can help you determine if what you’ve got is the real deal or simply a temporary fling or infatuation.
This love quiz was reviewed by Ivy Kwong, LMFT.
Keep in Mind
While sexual chemistry can be a passionate and almost euphoric feeling, it can sometimes cloud your judgment when in search of a partner or create a false sense of closeness. If you find that you’re having a hard time figuring out whether your desire for another person is rooted in lust or love, a therapist can help you understand and sort out your feelings.

There are 21 key signs of sexual tension and how to deal with them, according to experts.

1) Eye contact
This is the most well-known indicator of a connection with another person and a good way of being able to tell if someone likes you. If you constantly find yourselves locking eyes and holding each other’s gaze, this is a sign that you are interested in someone and of bonding and closeness. Our rule of thumb is that the longer it lingers, the greater the tension.

2) Staring
You might find yourself staring at the other person or find they’re staring at you. Sometimes you might happen to glance up at the same time and your eyes might soften into a mutual stare. If this happens, it’s likely there’s something taking place between you.

3) You’re aware of their presence
Even if you aren’t directly eyeing someone up you are likely keeping an eye on where they are in the room. You’re aware of where they are located and how close they are to you. Your excitement might grow as you feel them moving closer to you. If your intense awareness of this person is bothering you or distracting you, try listening to music or a podcast to distract yourself, occupying your attention with a repetitive task or practising mindfulness around a topic that interests you.

4) Awkwardness
Are you forgetting all your words? Tripping up or being clumsier than usual? Behaving awkwardly may be a sign of sexual tension because your behaviour is due to both being excited physically and being hyper aware of yourself and your actions. To deal with any awkward behaviour, try taking five deep breaths to regulate your nervous system before engaging with the other person, and try moving slowly. Don’t rush, and take time to pause and gather your thoughts before you speak.

5) That embarrassed feeling
Hyperawareness of how we look and act can also lead to feelings of embarrassment and shame. We’re viewing ourselves through a hypercritical lens while also dealing with a rush of cortisol, the stress hormone, which is likely making us feel dizzy and disorientated. It’s hard to not feel embarrassed when you’re in a self-conscious state, so try repeating kind and positive words to yourself.

6) Blushing
What does embarrassment lead to? Blushing, of course. As blood rushes to our heads to temper the effects of rising adrenaline, our faces and necks flush pink. This can be a clear giveaway that you’re experiencing some level of sexual tension or attraction to someone. Deep breathing to regulate your pulse and your body temperature can help.

7) Facial expressions
You might worry more about what you look like if you and another person are checking each other out. You might smile more or try to face the other person with your ‘good side’. Try to relax, take a beat and breathe out.

8) Sweating
As certain hormones flood your body and your pulse quickens, your body temperature might start to rise. This means you might find yourself sweating a little, which can be a source of embarrassment and anxiety. You can’t stop yourself sweating, but you can load up on antiperspirant and breathe deeply to try and stabilise your temperature.

9) There’s a bit of an odd atmosphere
Does the air feel heavy? Do your senses feel heightened? Sexual tension creates a physical response that makes it feel like the frequency in the room changes when you’re close to the person you’re attracted to.

10) Smiling
If you find yourself smiling when you think of the person, grinning when you see them and beaming when you engage with them, that can be a sure sign of sexual tension, especially if the smiles are mutual.

11) Laughing
Laughing releases feel-good hormones, and feel-good hormones put us at ease, so your propensity to laugh, giggle and joke around with another person both builds a chemical connection and shows that you like one another.

12) Touching each other
Maybe it’s a brush of their leg or a hand that lingers a little too long on a forearm after a funny joke. Whatever it is, subtle touching is definitely a sign of something bubbling beneath the surface.

13) You respond to touch by getting closer
If you happen to touch the other person, do they pull away or get closer? Do they lean in while you’re talking? If they move towards you, they’re probably attracted to you, or at least very comfortable with you being in their personal space.

14) You can’t help flirting
Joking around, making flirty comments and challenging each other are all signs that tension may be rising between you. If someone is flirting with you and you’re not enjoying it, it’s always good to respond with clarity by saying, ‘Don’t say that to me please, I don’t like it.’

15) ‘You two look great together!’
People telling you that you look, sound and act like you’d be good together suggests that others may be picking up on the sexual tension between you. Of course, everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but if people saying these sorts of things makes you feel uncomfortable, be clear with your boundaries and make it known that these sorts of comments aren’t appropriate.

16) You tease each other
Making fun of one another is a way of forging a personal bond and flirting in the process. It’s also a sign that someone is paying attention to your mannerisms and actions. However, don’t confuse degradation for playful teasing. If something feels jarring, tell the other person you’re not enjoying the teasing and that being mocked hurts your feelings.

17) Daydreaming
Do you find yourself daydreaming about a particular person? If your thoughts keep drifting, you play out fantasy scenarios or often wonder how certain conversations might go, this distraction could be a sign of sexual tension.

18) X-rated dreams
Sexual dreams are totally normal but sometimes they can be disarming, especially if someone you weren’t expecting to see makes an appearance. Sexual dreams don’t always mean that we want sex with the person in them; dreams are complex expressions of our subconscious, after all. However, if you find yourself having steamy dreams about a particular person regularly, there might be some desire there.

19) You gravitate towards each other
If you and the person you’re experiencing sexual tension with always tend to gravitate towards each other at social events, or at work, or if you often bump into each other in the same places, there might be something in that.

20) Changes in mood
The problem with sexual tension is that it can be a source of confusion and frustration. No one is acting on their feelings and you are both likely somewhat anxious and embarrassed about them. If someone brings up attraction, dating, body language or anything that feels too close to home in conversation, you might feel the mood change as you both respond to the shift in energy and acknowledge what you’re feeling. Try not to panic. No one is calling you out. Just calmly change the subject.

21) You get butterflies
A burst of adrenaline and a rising heart rate can result in tummy flutters when the other person is around. The feeling of butterflies in your stomach is associated with nervousness so it doesn’t always mean that you’re experiencing sexual tension. However, when combined with the other signs, it is pretty likely that sexual tension is present.

Psychologist Smriti Joshi advises: ‘Sexual tension could be something that only one person feels, or it could be mutual. It’s important to remember that while this could be a precursor to a relationship, these feelings are mostly led by sexual desire, so you must consider if there is mutuality and consent if you want to pursue these feelings further.’

Julia concurs: ‘If you aren’t clear if the other person feels the same, try some light flirting and see how they respond. You may notice they mirror some of your body language, make eye contact, look at your mouth, or find excuses to talk to or be around you.

‘If you are feeling bold, and it’s safe and appropriate to do so, you can ask directly. This way you are sure to know if the tension is just in your head. Just make sure you are able to comfortably and considerately deal with the answer, even if it’s a rejection.’

Edgy Voluminous Long Black Shag

If you are a proud owner of a gorgeous main and like to wear your hair long, surface layers might be the right answer for you. While using your curling iron, remember to leave out the ends for a more natural look.

14. Volumizing Haircuts for Thin Long Hair

Haircuts for thin long hair can offer you a variety of choices. You can frame your face with bangs, opt for a fresh color with highlights, or spice up your thin hair with loose waves. Or, you can try them all at once to make your thin or fine hair look its best. Tease your roots for a thick hair effect. It can make all the difference.

15. Highlights and Lowlights

Haircuts for thin long hair will traditionally feature highlights for creating color contrasts. How about adding lowlights as well? They will bring depth to your coif and make your fine hair look astonishing. To further enhance the look, apply hair volumizing gel to the roots before you blow dry your hair. Don’t forget about heat protectants to shield your locks.

16. Haircut for Thin Brunette Hair

If you have dark hair color, this is the look for you. Loose waves are not only fantastic because they lift your long fine hair, but they are also low maintenance and easy to achieve. Feathered or blunt bangs can add fullness and structure to haircuts for thin hair as well.

17. Fabulous Waves for Long Thin Hair

Owners of wavy hair, proudly use your hair texture to your advantage, as thin or fine hair will have an added bonus of volume. One of the problems you might experience though is dry hair. Moisturizing hair care products and sun protection is your best aid.

18. Framing Hairstyle for Thin Hair

One more option for those who like their hair long is a sliced haircut. 19. Straight Blowout

A benefit of straight and long fine hair is that it’s naturally sleek. Plus, it makes for a great base to show off a bold color solution. 20. Choppy Haircut for Thin Long Hair

21. Volumizing Hairstyle for Tousled Thin Hair

Unlike a pixie cut or a mid-length hairstyle, it may be difficult to maintain volume in thin long hair. Adding layers will solve this problem by making your thinning hair lighter and chopping off the split ends. Free-flowing curtain bangs will pull the look together working well with the layers.

22. Long Choppy Cut with Dimensional Highlights

Long thin hair may look plain and limp. Adding in color and shaggy layers is the perfect solution. Go with light, warm-toned highlights that help emphasize a sun-kissed complexion. Let the streaks do the work and keep the rest simple, with soft waves and a middle part for additional volume.

23. Long Choppy Layers with Side Swept Bangs

If you are in search of something that will make your long thin hair look more interesting, experiment with bangs and use a styling cream to create a piecy effect on the ends. Besides the desired volume, a backcombed effect is going to communicate your hairstyle the trendy messy touch.

27. Dynamic Cut with Swoopy Layers

Layered Cut For Mid-Back Hair

Often haircuts for thin long hair attempt to transform flat hair into a voluminous hairstyle. With layers that give it more body and personality, you’ll get a gorgeous style. The swooping, angled layers and flipped ends create the look of movement, and blow drying the ends of the hair with a round brush helps keep the bouncy shape lasting all day long.

28. Haircut with Wispy Layers

Dark roots paired with faded-to-platinum ends bring ample dimension to any coif. But ombre, in particular, makes beautiful colors the focus of your mane. Opt for wispy layers to further enhance the voluminous illusion.

29. Sleek Hairstyle with Long Feathered Layers

When you’re creating a layered hairstyle, feathering the ends so that the layers feel sleek and separated is the key to pulling the look together and getting a blended cut without having to add in additional lengths.

30. Two-Tier Wavy Cut

In most cases, the goal of hairstyles for long thin hair is to transform the shape without sacrificing the length. A layered style is just the trick. Ask your hair stylist to start creating layers at about chin length, and use a 1 ½ inch curling wand to curl the ends of layers, so that they result in a flowy, wavy texture.

32. Wispy Hairstyle with Bouncy Midshaft Layers

Layers for fine hair provide additional lift when given time to set in hot rollers. Set midshaft length layers using large rollers and let them cool, then take them out to reveal the voluminous top section of the hairstyle. Use a flat iron to curve in longer layers to finish off the look.

33. Straight Hair with Multiple Layers

Long Layered Haircut For Fine Hair

The simplest trick to get the best volume is teasing your roots. It will keep your hairdo from falling flat, but don’t go full-on 80s with it. With a fine-tooth comb, focus on amplifying around the top of the head to achieve a little extra oomph. Long layers for thin hair are a chic finishing touch that will balance the va-va-voom mane—and really all voluminous hairstyles — with sleek style and polish.

34. Long Sliced Haircut

To prevent haircuts for long fine hair from seeming flat or stringy, create texture by curling large chunks of hair into waves. Ask your stylist for sliced layers, so the strands can separate and give off a messy, carefree vibe. Spritz with sea salt spray and you’re good to go.

35. Cute Surface Layers for Long Hair

Surface layers add movement while hardly sacrificing any length. This way, hair stays long enough to be put in updos as desired. Consider a sweet delicious color, like this sophisticated cinnamon brown with caramel highlights and you’ll fall in love with your hair once again.

36. One-Length Cut with Long Side Bangs

If you’re keeping the bulk of your hair one length, adding bangs and feathered layers can make a huge difference, as well as help to frame the face. Long side bangs are easy to maintain and can be styled in various different ways — let them stand out at the front or pin them back and it’s as if you have no bangs at all.

37. Waist-Length Wavy Cut with Bangs

The longer the long thin hairstyles, the more weighed down hair might become. If you’re planning to grow your hair as long as waist-length, daily styling can be a pain, so your best option is to embrace your natural texture and cut textured bangs to play around with as you desire.

38. Long Layers and Thin Balayage Highlights

Balayage highlights are painted on the hair to appear subtle and natural. This technique can really jazz up simple straight hair with layers. The idea of a cut with long thin layers is also appealing if your hair is straight and you love to wear it free-flowing.

39. Layered Long Haircut

When they are layered, thin strands gain a fabulous bounce and wispy texture which look particularly gorgeous in free-flowing hairstyles with a dimensional hair color, like this lovely creamy blonde.

40. Textured Waterfall Braid

Haircuts for long thin hair should rely on long wispy layers. For casual styling don’t forget about braids to get an instant dose of style and volume. Waterfall braids are a wonderful choice because their looseness doesn’t apply tension to the scalp — which would make thin tresses even more evident. Team the half-up style with easy waves for added texture and Instagram-ready appeal.

Well, now it’s obvious that every hair type and texture has its benefits. The two most important aspects for fine hair to choose carefully are a quality haircut and a volume-boosting hair color solution. These will let you look effortlessly chic and special.

40 Pink Highlights – Romantic, Funky, Delicate and Sophisticated!! Did I say 40? Yes I did!!!

Pink Highlights – Romantic, Funky, Delicate and Sophisticated

Thinking of pink highlights, one usually pictures an image of saccharine Barbie hair, but pink in highlights or ombre can make very different impressions. It all depends on the hues you pick and how you blend them into your base color. Want to see how it can be? Check the pictures below!

1. Pink Duster

Pink Highlights for Brown Hair

The brown hair dyed blonde with pink highlights is adorable. There are layers, like those in Neapolitan ice cream, and this delicious combination has all the elements of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Though it’s a two-step process, this look can be yours as soon as you schedule your appointment!

2. Beige Blonde with Rose Accents

blonde to pastel pink ombre

When you’re going for just a subtle pink, search no further! This look incorporates a very light shade of pink that is barely noticeable but is definitely still there. Perhaps you have a family gathering, and you want to stand out, but not give grandma a heart attack..? Ok, then, this is it!

3. Punkin’ Pink Patty

pastel pink highlights for brown hair

Searching for the ideal pink hair color means not settling for the first appealing hue you lay your eyes upon. This look is achieved by dyeing the top layers of hair, leaving some of the natural darker color at the top. Blunt bob cut looks great in this color, doesn`t it?

4. Just the Tips, Please

blonde hair with pink peekaboo highlights

When you want color, light pink is a great accent. It makes those behind you wonder about you, and think, “Hmmm… I may have underestimated her level of coolness!” It’s a matter of perspective, of course, but those of us who will use these shades often have a different view of things.

5. Hidden Reds

dark brown bob with magenta peekaboo highlights

Peek-a-boo highlights of red hair are buried under this relatively unassuming darker burgundy-brown. The red highlights really bring out the natural red tones present in the main hair color, and if you share a similar shade, you’ll definitely want to consider this look!

6. Peach Blonde Lob

strawberry blonde bob with pastel pink highlights

Blonde hair is inarguably the best canvas on which to paint. These strands of peach blonde and pastel pink are expertly placed to create fabulous golden pink glow. They are staggered further from the scalp, giving the hair a more dimensional look. Beautiful, to say the least!

7. Pink and Brown Coloring

long brown hair with pink balayage highlights

Pink highlights can be aptly mixed with your natural hair color, and we like this style so much! With a magenta tone at the top and a bubble gum hue at the bottom, this is a great way to show off a classy multi-colored look, with a T-shirt or a gown!

8. Dusty Rose Waves

brown hair with lavender and pastel pink balayage

Black hair takes dye differently, and results will vary. This almost violet pink looks amazing, and reminds us of a certain Lip Smackers lip gloss from the 90’s. Richer shades are always possible, but this one is so delicate and sophisticated, that you may never want to go brighter after seeing it.

9. Bubble Gum Ombre

pastel pink hair with brown roots

This cute ombre is a gorgeous example of what happens when a stylist is also an artist. The blending is great, and the shades compliment her natural color quite well — so when it grows out a bit, it’ll remain a fabulous hairstyle!

10. Brown Hair with Rose Highlights

Brunettes have an advantage when incorporating pink, as their natural color already has red undertones. Medium brown tones flow seamlessly into a dusty rose finish. This gorgeous combination allows an otherwise unnatural shade to be quite subtle.

11. Blonde Hair with Pink Highlights

Blondes really do have more fun, especially with a splash of pink highlights! The spacing of the color allows it to be noticed without completely stealing the show from the lighter shade and deeper undertone. Keeping the pink heavier at the ends can make stringy hair appear full.

12. Heavy Pink Highlighting in Black Hair

Black haired beauties need to be ready to pack a punch when going pink. You deal with a stark contrast between the two shades, so don’t be afraid to go all in. This example shows a heavy handed highlight where the base color eventually goes away altogether at the ends.

13. Rose Gold to Pink Hair

Rose gold is all the rage since it has made its debut in the hair world. It is a lovely and unexpected shade on its own, but also pairs beautifully with pink. Notice how the added sheen gives the illusion of metallic tones to the tresses.

14. Face Framing Magenta Highlights

pink balayage for brunettes

Pink hair highlights will get attention no matter what. Be strategic and draw that attention to your face by creating a colorful frame. You’ll want to maintain this look diligently as it will be very obvious when you’ve gone too long between treatments.

15. Lob with Pink Ombre

dark brown bob with pastel pink balayage

This is truly a trifecta of trendy goodness. Take a long layered bob (so in right now), pair it with an ombre effect (the look of the year), and throw in some slammin’ color (rose pink) for the ultimate Pinterest worthy style! The key here is a transition shade that compliments your natural hue as well as the pink.

16. Blonde Hair with Subtle Highlighting

Pink and blonde can be almost indistinguishable when toned correctly. The highlights blend perfectly when placed all over in a natural pattern. Really work with your stylist on finding the right shade when creating this look.

17. Two-Toned Shaggy Hair

subtle pink highlights for blonde hair

Balayage is a technique where the color is painted into the hair to create a more natural finish. This would work great when blending similar colors such as red hair with pink highlights, or can also be used with contrasting colors as shown with blonde and pink.

18. Layered Bob with Magenta Streaks

When thinking of short pink hair, one may immediately envision a punk rocker gal with a sharp edge cut. However, a softer side does exist with the combo. A shoulder length blonde bob with chunky pink highlighting finished with lots of curls creates a great ying and yang blend of sweet and sassy.

19. Varying Pink Toned Highlights

Pink comes in so many lovely shades that it can be difficult to hone in on just one. Luckily, you don’t have to! This style shows a sunset medley of orange pink, pastel pink, rose gold, and purple.

20. Fuchsia Balayage for Black Hair

Matching color intensity is so important for a cohesive look. This proves to be true especially in the situation of black hair with pink highlights. Black is very rich on its own, so make sure you match that with hot pink, fuchsia, or magenta.

21. Copper and Baby Pink Combination

Copper makes a great transition shade when working with hair that’s a medium brown and pink highlights. The golden hue draws the eye from the natural base color to the pink ends and serves as a buffer to keep the change looking graceful. It also becomes less obvious when you need a touch up.

22. Multi-Colored A-Line Cut

brown and pastel pink lob

A peach and pink combo is a fun and girly option when wanting to add some flair to your style. A darker shade underneath makes the highlights pop and creates a gorgeous blend of color. Use a heavier hand with the color towards the bottom for a more dramatic effect.

23. Long Layers and Subtle Balayage

If long blonde hair with pink highlights doesn’t make you feel like a fairy princess, nothing will. Incorporate lots of layers to keep the look light and airy. Finish with some loose barrel curls for the optimum girly style.

24. Angled Lob with Purple Ribbons

Purple and pink are shades that can make their own unique statement or at times basically blend into the same color. Lighter versions of either are worked easily into blonde hair. This combination of highlights plus an edgy cut keeps straight thin hair from looking anything but bland.

25. Balayage Ombre for Medium Hair

Color melting is a technique that blends the highlights into the base color to avoid any dramatic lines. The transition from the brown to dark pink creates a lovely auburn shade in the middle of the hair. It’s a great way to incorporate the color while avoiding a style that screams pink hair.

26. Black to Pink Dye Job

When using pink highlights in brown hair or black hair, you can achieve a more moody style by going with a deeper shade. Start this ombre look with your natural dark hair at the top, a medium warm shade in the center, and a rouge rose at the tips. Ombre is a perfect option while you’re growing out your roots as it looks intentional versus unkempt.

27. Feminine Pink and Blonde Curls

Blonde hair with pink highlighting can go punk or pretty depending on the shade of pink and the haircut. For the latter, go with a mix of medium toned pink and extra light blonde tones worked into a medium length cut. Complete this pretty in pink style with lots of curls.

28. Angled Bob with Holographic Highlights

Holographic hair is a relatively new idea that uses highlights to basically make the hair look like it’s changing colors. It often gives a heavy sheen or even a metallic look to the hair as well. The subtle blue, purple, and pink streaks make a statement while still allowing the stylish cut to shine through.

29. Black Hair with Neon Pink Highlights

Black and pink hair makes quite a bold statement when combined correctly. Light pink highlights will not work well here, so your best bet is to go with a vibrant option to really stand out against the dark base. The positioning of the highlights creates a unique color band around the head.

30. Pinkish Purple Lob

Lavender Hair with Pink Highlights

If you are into the pastel hair trend, light pink is a great hue to diversify any pastel shade you prefer as your base. Pink pairs well with lavender and teal. With lavender, you get no contrast, just a soft compliment to the base color. Great choice!

31. Pastel-Toned Color Melt

Pink ombre involves at least two colors, and they can be both unnatural. This lovely combination with purple up top keeps you guessing what her natural color is, while loving her bright shades all the more! A total standout for sure!

33. Layered Bob with Chunky Higlights

Pink highlights against black hair are excellent, because they really give your hair more visual complexity. Some of them are hidden underneath and are only exposed in movement. These black and red stripes are sure to be a favorite!

34. Cotton Candy Bob

pastel pink wavy bob

Pink hair + purple hair = a desire for ice cream…at least over here! We love this shorter, half-and-half color pattern, and how softly the pink stands out against the purple! Wear casually, wear formally… just wear it!

35. Pink-Stained Bowl Cut

short flaxen blonde hair with pink balayage

This artistic pastel pink combines with magenta to emulate a bright and colorful bird. They often have bright spots on their heads to indicate to the members of the opposite sex that they are potential mates. This hairstyle doesn’t miss the mark either!

36. Raspberry Dip Dye

black hair with pink ends

Here is another take on pink dip dye hair. The dark brown hair is finished with magenta tips, with a hint of raspberry rather than pink. This is for variety!

37. Subtle Face-Framing Streaks

light pastel pink balayage highlights

Not all pink highlights are created equal. As you’ve already seen, pink is a subjective color, much like green or blue. There are endless shades, millions of them, truly, and these are just peachy examples in our book!

38. Jumbo Victory Rolls

magenta and pink highlights for brown hair

Black hair can really showcase contrasting colors when dyed correctly. Here is a very interesting set of Victory Rolls, enriched with purplish pink shade and light pink highlights. Blunt heavy bangs tie this look together and send you in a time machine to a slower, different time.

39. Coral Pixie Cut

These blood-orange pink highlights are so perfect for any occasion — they are setting you apart from the crowd in a good way! You’ll probably have to say “thank you” 50 times before the night is through, as everyone will want to comment on this not-so-regular shade of pink!

40. Curly Hair with Colored Bangs
